Healthcare Without Boundaries: DocGo and SteadyMD Expand What’s Possible in Connected Care

SteadyMD Co-Founder and CEO Guy Friedman, on Joining DocGo
When DocGo announced its acquisition of SteadyMD, a leading virtual care platform for digital health companies, labs, pharmacies, employers, and other innovators, it marked a significant milestone in DocGo’s mission to deliver healthcare at any address.
With the addition of SteadyMD’s proprietary virtual care technology and nationwide network of over 500 clinicians, DocGo now enables telehealth across all 50 US states, strengthening the company’s virtual care infrastructure and expanding its reach to millions of patients.
We spoke with Guy Friedman, Co-Founder and CEO of SteadyMD and now part of DocGo’s leadership team, about SteadyMD’s journey, the power of this partnership, and the future of hybrid healthcare.
Q: SteadyMD has been a fixture in digital health for nearly a decade. What was your founding vision, and how has it evolved?
Guy Friedman: We have been in digital health for almost 10 years, which makes us veterans in this space. When we launched, the telehealth landscape was dominated by urgent care models. Our vision was different. We wanted to build a long-term, virtual primary care offering that restored trust between patients and clinicians.
In the early years, we operated as a direct-to-consumer subscription service. Patients paid us monthly for an ongoing relationship with their doctor. That model taught us a lot about patient care, engagement and retention, and we grew quickly through digital marketing and word of mouth.
As the market matured, we saw a bigger opportunity to help other organizations scale their own care models nationwide. We shifted to become the infrastructure behind leading digital health brands, taking on the regulatory complexity and clinician operations so our partners could focus on patient experience. That transition positioned us perfectly for our next chapter with DocGo.
Q: What inspired you to join forces with DocGo, and how does this partnership accelerate your shared vision?
Friedman: DocGo and SteadyMD have been building toward the same goal from different angles. SteadyMD has been enabling high-quality virtual care, and DocGo has been scaling in-person, mobile healthcare. Combining those strengths positions us deliver seamless hybrid care at a national level.
DocGo already facilitates mobile medical care with a telehealth component, and we can enhance that experience with SteadyMD’s virtual clinician network and technology. At the same time, DocGocan help SteadyMD virtual practitioners expand beyond the screen.
This is a true one-plus-one-equals-three partnership. Together have the capability to provide healthcare wherever the patient is, whether that is online, at home, or in the a community setting.
Q: SteadyMD powers telehealth for some of the most innovative brands in healthcare and wellness. How will this combination strengthen DocGo’s ability to serve enterprise partners and payers?
Friedman: Our white-label platform and clinical network are built for scalability and flexibility. We power care experiences for some of the largest digital health companies in the world, in addition to up & coming innovative startups – organizations that demand both reliability and our ability to scale.
For DocGo, this means immediate access to a national, 50-state clinician workforce and the technology to match patients with the right clinician in real time. For enterprise partners, it means a single platform that can connect virtual, mobile, and healthcare in the home under one umbrella.
In the simplest terms, SteadyMD helps DocGo by upleveling their telehealth capabilities (both technically and geographically) and DocGo helps SteadyMD by augmenting our offering with in-person care.
If a digital health firm, lab or larger enterprise wants to activate a new virtual care program, we can support it instantly across the entire United States in a turnkey manner. This speed and increased reach are transformative for DocGo.
Q: What do you see as the biggest opportunities in expanding virtual-first and hybrid models of care?
Friedman: Hybrid care is the future. Patients want both convenience and continuity. With DocGo’s mobile healthcare infrastructure and our virtual care capabilities, we can finally make that model work at scale.
Imagine – a patient starts with a SteadyMD telehealth visit, followed by a diagnostic test or follow-up visit at the patient’s home facilitated by a DocGo mobile health clinician. Finally, the baton gets passed back to SteadyMD, who takes over to consult with the patient on their results. It’s a seamless care loop, virtual to physical to virtual again, all coordinated through one platform.
It is also a powerful model for payers and health systems looking to reduce costs and improve outcomes. We are creating an ecosystem where care can happen anywhere, anytime, without losing the human connection.
Q: The healthcare landscape is changing fast, from regulation to value-based models to rising patient expectations. How does the combined company position itself to thrive in that environment?
Friedman: Regulation has moved in a supportive direction for telehealth and there is bipartisan support for virtual care. We are seeing more flexibility across state lines and more acceptance of virtual care as a standard modality. That environment plays to our strengths.
DocGo’s public company infrastructure adds another layer, with stronger governance, more disciplined operations, and the capital to invest in innovation. Together we can move quickly while maintaining the rigor needed to operate at scale in a complex healthcare industry.
Q: Looking five years ahead, what does success look like for you?
Friedman: Part of the reason we joined DocGo is that they believe in our vision and want us to keep building it. Our vision for SteadyMD is to be the home for digital health clinicians, and the infrastructure behind every online visit. Similar to what Stripe is for payments or AWS is for cloud computing. I want every visit that takes place online to go through SteadyMD and we are working towards that goal.
We joined forces with DocGo to extend our vision and support a more personalized, patient-centered approach to virtual care at an even larger scale. We are excited to work together to improve access, outcomes and convenience for millions of patients.
Real transformation in healthcare doesn’t happen overnight, but with DocGo, I believe we now have the reach, the resources, and the shared vision to make it happen.
