A Smarter Way to Move Healthcare: Dara’s Integrations

Hospitals and health systems face constant pressure to do more, more quickly, and often with fewer resources. Staff are stretched thin, technology adoption lags, and legacy workflows like transportation requests create avoidable delays and frustration. Dara, DocGo’s SaaS product offers a way forward.

“We’re moving healthcare towards a smarter, more efficient future,” said Matt Koslosky, Director of Business Development at DocGo. “Dara is a comprehensive patient transportation platform that integrates with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to ease the burden on clinical teams and help patients get where they need to go faster.”

Dara is an easy-to-use online ordering platform integrated with health system EHRs that simplifies how staff order patient transportation. Dara is available as a SaaS solution to health systems with their own transportation network or combined with DocGo’s dedicated medical transportation services. With just a few clicks, staff select the mode of transport, enter relevant details, and receive an ETA–all without waiting for paperwork to be completed.

Life before Dara

Historically, hospital staff have coordinated transportation through a time-intensive manual process. It often meant spending time on the phone with multiple vendors, repeating information and managing shifting ETAs. Many health systems and hospitals still manage their transportation this way today.

“I remember seeing how it actually worked. A staff member would call one vendor for a discharge pickup and get offered 1:00 PM. Another could do 2:00, a third said 4:00. By the time they circled back to 1:00, it was no longer available. It took 30 minutes to get one ETA, and the crew might not arrive for another few hours,” said Matt Koslosky.

The process consumes time and delays care. Staff become used to making 10 or more calls just to confirm one ride. Dara replaces this workflow with real-time ETAs, centralized communication, and automated routing with an average saving of 9.6 minutes per ride request.

“Hospitals are often cautious about adopting new technology, but Dara doesn’t require major change. It’s familiar, and it helps solve long-standing coordination challenges,” said Matt Koslosky.

Integration Where It Counts

A key test for any new technology platform is how well it plugs into existing IT infrastructure and hospital discharge workflows. Fortunately, Dara supports a range of thoughtful and effective integrations to support staff adoption. Among the most valuable is the integration with Epic, the most widely used EHR system in US healthcare. The Epic integration allows users to launch Dara directly from the patient chart from within their existing Epic environment. Here, patient data auto-populates into patient transportation orders, reducing errors and significantly cutting down the time needed to complete a request.

“Time on task is critical,” said Matt Koslosky. “Manual data entry creates unnecessary friction. The Epic integration allows our users to complete orders quickly so they can focus on patient care.”

For hospitals not on Epic or those transitioning between EHR systems, Dara functions seamlessly as a standalone web requester for patient transportation, giving every system access to the same core functionality and efficiency.

Dara also supports the automatic generation of an electronic Physician Certification Statement (PCS), a required document by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) that certifies medical necessity for patient transport services. Dara pulls the required information from the order, fills out the PCS, and stores it securely for future access by the transportation provider who bills for the transport.

“We can populate the PCS directly from the trip request,” said Matt Koslosky. “That means no one is stuck filling out forms, and patients aren’t left waiting on stretchers while someone finds the paperwork.”

Unlike other transportation ordering platforms, Dara does not require every detail to be finalized before generating an ETA. This helps hospitals improve throughput (the speed of patient flow from admission to discharge) while supporting clinicians to better focus on care delivery rather than administrative steps.

“Every health system operates differently. Dara is built with the flexibility to match the workflows and preferences of each hospital,” said Risat Haque, SaaS Product Manager at DocGo. “Whether it is a discharge, appointment or transfer, the goal is to enable faster movement and more accurate coordination through streamlined workflows and smarter communication.”

The Dara Transport Network Partners API

To support broad interoperability with transportation vendors, DocGo has developed the Dara Transport Network Partners API. This bi-directional integration allows ambulance and medical transport providers to connect their own Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, such as ZOLL RescueNet, and automatically exchange trip data and updates with hospitals and health systems in real time.

“This capability gives hospitals more control and flexibility,” said Risat Haque. “They can work with Ambulnz, DocGo’s own transport service, or with other vendors in their network. Everyone remains connected to the same system of record.”

Dara Partners API is available for network providers offering any level of medical transportation, including ambulance service, wheelchair van and livery integration options. Dara also integrates with rideshare through an integration with UberHealth.

The integration removes the need for manual data entry between systems. Trip information flows directly into each provider’s CAD, giving hospitals access to real-time updates and status reports for each ride.

Dara Works With You

Dara supports hospitals and health systems’ existing information technology infrastructure and works within hospital staff’s existing discharge workflows, making it faster to implement without the need for complex overhauls. Once integrated with Dara, more than 75% of all transports from health systems on average come in as digital requests – removing the need for time-consuming phone calls. Whether accessed through an EHR or via a standalone web portal, the system provides consistent tools for ordering, tracking, and reporting. With automated routing, real-time visibility, and robust integrations, Dara helps care teams move faster and focus more on patients.

No doubt about it, Dara is a platform built for today’s demands and ready for whatever comes next.
